Good News!!!
I finally got the good news in the mail today.... I PASSED MY YEAR END EXAMS!!!!!! I only just barely passed a couple sections, but the important thing is that I passed, and I will be an intern in the fall!! And not only that, but I also got my grades for my classes today, and I somehow managed to get all A's! (well, one was an A-, but that still counts as an A) I'm such a dork!
So, of course there always seems to be some bad to go with the good, and my beloved Red Sox continued to get pummeled by those f***in yankees... and there are two more games left in the series. God help us!

Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!
James: Cheer up. Remember what the Monty Python boys say.
Helen: "Always look on the bright side of life"?
James: No, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition."
Its true, as the Monty Python boys used to say. The things we consider truly out of left field, are certainly possible, and may happen to other people, but certainly not me, right??? Well, I don't know if any of you have seen the movie Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow, but it is a great movie, and I feel like the past few days I have been Helen (Gwyneth's character).
As some of you may know, I have been studying very hard for my 2nd year end comprehensive exams (which were on Thursday and Friday), and I also got a new job recently that has been taking up any possible free time so that I can make ends meet. As it so happened, my sympathetic boss let me out of work early the other night so that I could go home and study instead (luckily, I didn't get "sacked", as in the movie). So, I come home early to find my boyfriend shagging another girl. He actually had the nerve to say something along the lines of, "its not what it looks like!"
So... yada yada yada... I'm single again, and I am really doing great. Sure, I have my moments... but I'm mostly sad about the fact that I have to leave my adorable beach cottage and find a cheaper place to live. I'm really sad about that because I had trouble sleeping early this morning and went for a jog along the cliffs, and it is sooo beautiful and calming when you can breathe the ocean air and see the sun rising on the water. I even went down to the cliffs again this evening to watch the sunset, which was also spectacular. It all reminds me that there are bigger and more important things in the world than finding my stupid ex cheating on me three days before these really important exams that I have been working so hard for (because I really needed more stress in my life right now). It puts things in perspective for me.
So... wish me luck on my exams! If all goes according to plan I passed them all and will be an intern beginning in September!

How do you spell relief?
RAIN!!!
I awoke this morning to the wonderful sound of rain falling... I love that sound.... I MISS that sound. For those of you who aren't familiar with San Diego, it never rains here in the summer time. At least not more than a few sprinkles. Thats something I miss about the east coast- summer rain storms. Of course, this is not even close to being a "storm" (although the local "meterologists" might be calling it that), but when its enough to get the ground wet, its a big deal. Can you see how wet the cement is in the picture?? Nice.
These are the things that I get excited about lately! Well really I am just procrastinating because I should be studying right now. I have finals over the next couple weeks and my second year-end exams. If I can pass my year-ends, I will be an intern in the fall, and have my own patients in the clinic!! Yay!!
so... I must get back to studying!

MIA

Those few of you who are regular readers of my blog must be pretty bored around here lately! Sorry I've been so non-existent! But, it turns out that when one needs money, they have to go out and find a job, even if that means that you have no time to post to your blog or do other fun things that you used to do. I haven't even been to the beach in a couple weeks! So I just started this job at the local ice cream stand here in OB. Mind you, it is not my ideal job, but the hours are short and its only a four block walk to work (which means I'm earning money but not spending any more on gas!). Plus, I get tips! As a starving student, its always nice to be able to walk home with some cash in your pocket. Its been busy in there, though because San Diego (and most of he country) is going through a heat wave, and I guess people like to go out and eat ice cream when its hot. I'm getting a little sick of this heat, too. At least back east we would get the occaisional thunderstorm to cool everything off for a little while. Oh well... try to keep cool everyone... get some ice cream and make sure to leave a tip!

Easter Sunday Confession...
I'm crazy for doing this fast. It was really hard when the guys were cooking steaks on the grill yesterday... I hate to admit it, but I cheated a little and had two bites of steak! But I am actually very proud of myself for not totally giving up and diving into one of the steak sandwiches smothered in sauteed onions.... mmmm... steak and onions...
Ok... only one more day.
HAPPY EASTER

I know, I know...
I've been a very bad blogger. I haven't posted since St Patricks day?? WTF is that? Well, I guess I have been way too preoccupied with school lately. Thankfully this semester will be over in a couple weeks... I need a break SOOO bad!
I am about 3/4 of the way through my lace leaf scarf, and I can't wait to finish it. It would be nice to finish before it starts getting hot here in SD again, although this will be a lightweight scarf, and perfect for cool nights.
I got the new issue of Vogue Knitting yesterday, and everything in there is so beautiful... but seems sooo complicated! There are a few patterns that have crochet edgings, and embroidery, and ribbons woven in... its too much for me, but it looks pretty. One thing I really want to make is pattern #31, a basic tiered skirt. I've always wanted to knit myself a skirt, but never really saw a pattern that I thought would look flattering for me.
I think I might use elann's Endless Summer Luna in lapis (royal blue). Yet one more thing to add to my long list of things I want to knit!
Well, I suppose I should get to work... I need to study for my herbs final and finish up a paper that is due Thursday. I hate writing papers.

Too much school, too little knitting
Ok, so aside from SNB on Saturday, I have gotten absolutlely NO KNITTING DONE lately. But there are sooooo many things I want to make! For one thing, the Sexy Knitters Club has voted on a new KAL, which ended up on a choice between Glampyre's Orangina and the Somewhat Cowl from Knit and Tonic. Since I think the Somewhat Cowl has a really strange neckline that looks good on some people (but surely not me), I want to do Orangina. I've wanted to make that forever. I also really want to make Diamonique, which would be really nice to wear over a tank top or cami in the warm San Diego weather that will be coming soon.
So, due to lack of cash flow at the moment, I'm thinking of frogging my Tivoli, and recycling it to make either Orangina or Diamonique. Why frog Tivoli?? Well, its a bit painful to think about considering I put a lot of time into it, but I really don't think I will ever wear it. I never was able to iron out the rolling in the front of the neck, and there are a couple of places at the yarn joins that just don't look right. But the jury is still out on that one.
(By the way... if my Secret Pal is reading this and wondering what to get me last minute... I would love either the Diamonique or Orangina patterns!)
Oh, and i also should do something for Project Spectrum... still not sure what. Maybe I will get some knitting done on my leaf scarf tonight while watching the World Baseball Classic or March Madness....

Who reads this crap?
I was reading Grumperina's recent post, about who she tells about her blog, and why. She posed this question to her readers: "How about you? Who knows about your knitting and your knitting blog, and what are your reasons for revealing (or not) its existence to these folks? Don’t just leave me a comment – rather consider this a meme and answer on your own blog ;)."
Hmm... well, most of my friends don't know about it. None of my family knows about it. My boyfriend knows, but has never read it, and I would like to keep it that way. Not that I have anything to hide... actually, i did do a bit of slammming him when we broke up....
I think the only friend I know who reads it is Lisa, a fellow knitter. In fact, she's the one that taught me how to knit. I have told the gals (and guy) at SNB about it, but I think only a couple of them have actually read it. It seems that most people who don't have blogs already, aren't really that interested in other people's blogs. But if you do have a blog, you like to look at other people's blogs, right? You are either a blogger or you're not.
I haven't told my family about it because I knit things for them, and I like to show my progress and pics and stuff without worrying about ruining the suprise, and without having to make another blog just for gift entries. I have thought about sharing my blog with the fam, but I don't think they would even visit... with the exception of my brother... but I don't really think he's interested in my knitting. My mom would say, "what's a blog? I don't get it. What do I have to do? How do I get there?" My dad only looks at a computer if he really has to.
So, if anyone asks me if I have a blog, I won't lie, but I don't really offer the information, either. I guess part of me feels like a geek cuz I blog on a regular basis. And I blog about my knitting... how dorky is that?? I do have another blog, for just more random stuff... but that's still a secret!
