my sanity
Yes, knitting keeps me sane. In the midst of breaking up with a boyfriend, moving to a new place, school and work... knitting is a constant. And as busy as I am, I must find time to knit in my life. I finished the Misty Meadow Scarf last night, and now she is blocking.
To re-cap, the pattern is the Misty Garden scarf from Scarfstyle. I changed the name to Misty Meadow because the project was my submission for the Knit the Classics September book, The Time Traveler's Wife. I used only one ball of Filatura di Crosa Muticolor. Of course, the photo does no justice to the color changes, but it really is a beautiful mix of blues and greens with a little pink, purple and yellow mixed in. I love the pattern, too... so simple and easy to memorize. The waves in the pattern represent the ripples in time, and ripples of grass in the meadow where Clare and Henry meet so often. The colors of blue and green seem to be a constant throughout the book as well.
I already know what my next project will be... a felted laptop case, to protect my brand new Dell which I LOVE. I wish I didn't have to spend so much time packing when I would so much rather be knitting! At least the cats like to play in the boxes. ![]()

Busy busy busy!
Between school, work, the process of moving (yes, I found a place!), and my birthday on Tuesday, I have had NO time to do any blogging... or knitting for that matter.
I move into my new place on Oct 3rd! I found a cute little place right in University Heights, right on Park and Adams. I am very excited to move into this trendy little neighborhood, but still quite sad to leave beautiful Ocean Beach.
I also turned 31 this Tuesday, and I thought it might be hard for me, but there has been so much going on lately that i haven't even had time to think about it! Last night I met with three other Virgos to have dinner at Il Fornaio in Coronado. What a beautiful restaurant!! We were seated on the patio in front of a fireplace and looking out to the bay and the skyline of San Diego. Our friend Tricia works at the one in Del Mar, so she was able to get us 50% off the food, and we ate like queens! We had so much fun.

Thats it for now... I must get going to school, but I will post more later!

hard to believe

It is hard to believe that it was 5 years ago.
I know I will never forget.

getting back to normal
Phew! It has been quite a week... starting up school again and starting a new job. I feel like I haven't had much down time. I have started my internship, and so far I have had three patients. It is so satisfying to finally be able to use everything that I have been learning up until now. Acupuncture is an art in addition to being a medicine... no two people will treat one patient the same way. So being able to choose which points I want to use and which techniques I want to perform is very challenging, but so much fun. And of course helping people feel better is so rewarding. I think this will be a fun semester.
As far as knitting goes, I haven't done much this week. I think I only got a few rows done of my Misty Garden scarf at SNB yesterday. I will get more done today while watching the Red Sox lose to KC again, and of course football. My poor, poor Sox are so sad right now.
As of last night, we are actually 10 games behind the Yankees. Ugh. But, to cheer me up, I finally got my very own copy of MDK.
I'm ready to get started on those dishcloths!

and another...
It seems my must-knit list is getting longer and longer... have you seen this from Magknits?? so pretty... but I must focus! I just bought yarn this morning for the Simple Knitted Bodice from WEBS. I scored and got 14 skeins of Berrocco Softtwist at the LOW LOW price of $3.75!! Most of the other colors are $5 each, but a few are at the lower price... so how could I resist? Dis of A Little Loopy is also using this yarn for the SKB and said it was a good sub, so I'll give it a try. I didn't enhance my stash at all yesterday during our yarn crawl, but I didn't come away empty handed...

September Goals
I thought I would follow along with some other San Diego bloggers and post my monthly goals. I have a couple big ones this month:
1. Find a great new apartment or roommate situation
2. Start my first semester as an intern, and cultivate a regular clientle
3. Start up the South Beach Diet again
4. Do pilates/yoga/jogging at least three times a week
5. Get over stupid ex-boyfriend
6. Finish Misty Meadow scarf for Knit the Classics project... I got started on this scarf yesterday, and I just love how the colors are coming out. The picture doesn't do it justice:

It starts out with a purplish/pink and blue green, then more turquoise, and its now evolving into green. I just love it so far.
I had to give my 30 day notice at my apartment yesterday, too... man that was hard. I LOVE where I live right now and it is truly breaking my heart to move. I'm only a block from a little beach at the end my street, and I'm only a short walk from Sunset Cliffs, where I love to jog. My place is an adorable little beach cottage, and I have worked so hard in the gardens I have and my cats love to be able to go outside and play in the grass once in a while... and I love my neighbors, too. Ugh. But I figure its just a place to live, and I will find a new great place to start the next chapter in my life... without Dunbass.
This afternoon will help me keep my mind off of things- I am going on my very first yarn crawl with some other San Diego bloggers, some of whom I will be meeting for the first time. I can't wait! I have a goal in mind; to find yarn for the Simple Knit Bodice (do I really need to link it??)... wish me luck!
